Sermon:  “Stepping Out in Faith”

 

It’s called “Ordinary Time” in many church traditions.  It begins after Trinity Sunday, which follows the birth, life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus.  Jesus has departed from our midst, and since Pentecost, we have been recipients of the Holy Spirit to lead us on our spiritual journey.  But we have also been left with a charge to fulfill. 

During this season of “Ordinary Time” we shall examine how we are equipped for this work, and what it might entail.

Today:  “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” or “Learn to live in faith.”

Perhaps as a child you learned the chorus, “The wise man built his house upon the rock.”  What did you think of that story as a child?  What has changed for you now?

 

When are times that you have weathered the storms of life?  How did this experience bring you to a new appreciation of God as your refuge and strength?
